Hagymatikum Spa Complex
Hagymatikum, the cathedral of baths, a spa complex with adventure, medical, and wellness sections in the heart of the town, is Makó’s most significant tourist attraction.
The approximately 20 outdoor and indoor pools offer countless possibilities for rest, recovery, and recreation for all ages. A lot of exciting experiences, the Sherwood Forest, a playhouse, and a children’s pool await the little ones in the Children’s World section. Those who want to relax can try 11 types of massages, waterbed massage, 9 different saunas in Sauna World and choose the one that suits them best from among the varied sauna sessions. Designed by Imre Makovecz, the impressive sculpture group of Atlantis World fascinates visitors with light shows and three different themed films, evoking the mythical world of Atlantis. 'From the sea, from the invisibly radiating points of the land, towers and rocks rise towards the sky. Living life is formed from stone, it flies up into the air. The sky wants to unite with the earth, that fiery attraction wants to dominate, which expresses that what is above is also below, and what is below is also above.' The wonderful experience is enhanced by several new indoor slides and the special VR experience that can be found under the world of Atlantis.
In addition to the new indoor slides and adventure pools, a cocktail pool was also built in the thermal section, where you can taste drink specialties, including the unique Hagymaticool cocktail, available only in the spa, which contains pearl onions, gin, cucumber, mint leaves, and apple juice. The restaurant of the spa offers a wide selection of delicious and special dishes every day, which are prepared using onions from Makó, paprika from Szeged, and fresh crops from the small gardens in the countryside.

Lombkorona Walkway
The average height of the walkway is 10 meters, there are several resting places at different heights, a unique onion-shaped dome, three special metal mesh dexterity adventure elements, as well as a nearly 20-meter high, three-level observation deck with a 61-meter-long slide from the top level, which is considered the longest dry-land slide in Central Europe. The informative boards along the walkway present the floodplain wildlife with colourful pictures and can also be used with a QR code.

Maros Adventure Bank
Located on the banks of Maros, the Adventure Park offers opportunities for active recreation with its various elements of adventure.
A children’s playground full of playful tasks and the giant trampoline are available for the little ones, where they can jump freely and enjoy the pleasure of movement. Adults can test their skills and resistance on the adventure track with 26 obstacles. The Canopy offers an exceptional experience, gliding over the river, where you can tandem slide even with small children. The most courageous ones can cycle on a wire rope, admiring the Maros, the bridge, and the riverside nature. For those who like extreme fun, the Pendulum Swing is the right choice. Which is actually a giant swing with a free fall from a height of 15 meters.

József Attila Town Library and Museum
The museum of Makó has been collecting and presenting the town and its surroundings since 1950.
In the buildings of the Open Air Ethnographic Collection in the courtyard of the museum, you can see the permanent exhibition showing peasant-bourgeois activities and lifestyles. In the village museum, you can get an insight into the onion house, which is a reconstructed copy of the birthplace of Ferenc Erdei, where you can learn about onion varieties from Makó and the former onion market. As an additional part of the village museum, you can also visit a blacksmith’s forge and a carpentry workshop. The exhibition, entitled Struggling Centuries, describes Makó’s past. Here you can find the Ford T-model, which is still functional, and whose design team included József Galamb and Jenő Farkas. 15.5 million copies of the world’s first people’s car were produced. The T-model preserved in Makó was produced in 1919, and more than 100 years later, it is still driven around the town, indeed only on festive occasions. In the Espersit House (named after János Espersit, the partisan of literary life and arts), in the classicist-style residential building created in 1898, you can find contemporary manuscripts, books, photographs, and furnishing objects, as well as read about the poetic career of Attila József.

József Galamb Vintage Vehicle Exhibition Center
The exhibition center created in memory of József Galamb, the world-famous car designer born in Makó, opened its doors in March 2024 in the building of the repair shop that once was coordinated by József Galamb and his brother, whose exterior mural painting (the Ford wall) was renewed for this occasion.
Those interested can see the old timer motorcycles owned by the members of the Maros-Bank Vintage Vehicle Enthusiasts Sports Association, which operates the center, as well as an exhibition featuring the work of József Galamb. Wood Craftsman Workshop and Showroom
In the Wooden Handmade Workshop and Showroom, Danijel Bede presents the craft of wood carving to visitors.
In the showroom, there are more than 200 unique, hand-carved, and painted products, including wooden bowls, trays, sculptures, wall decorations, kitchen accessories, wooden toys, souvenirs, and many, many more beautiful utility items that can be purchased. Visitors have the opportunity to try traditional pocket knife carving.

Makó Water Adventures
The Makó Water Adventures team offers a 1-hour cruise on the Maros, which starts from the open beach.
The tour goes to the Romanian border, then turns back, touches the bridge, turns around again at the sand quarry, and ends at the beach. The program can be used by a maximum of 6 people at the same time, making it ideal for couples, families, and groups of friends. During the cruise, you can get to know the wildlife in the area. In addition to the adventure cruise, it is also possible to take a kayak or canoe tour.

The Onion House Cultural and Educational Center
The Onion House is the cultural center of Makó, which also includes a theater.
The four-tower building was designed by Imre Makovecz, and evokes the white wall of the Reformed Old Church and the four bastions of its former fence. The auditorium has 390 seats, a stage, a podium hall, and a café. During the summer period, an open-air stage is also set up, which awaits visitors with various performances from June to August.

The Hinkó Farm
The Hinkó Farm is the perfect choice for pet-friendly families.
There are many animals on the farm, including degus, colourful pheasants, rabbits, goats, horses, and donkeys. In addition to the animals, there are also many games, playgrounds, sandpits, and trampolines for children.

Horse-drawn Carriage Tour- Zoltán Horváth
A special way to get to know the town is a horse-drawn carriage tour with Zoltán Horváth.
Zoltán Horváth knows the town’s past and present very well, and he is happy to share it during the ride. This program can be ideal for couples, families, or large groups, as several horse-drawn carriages of different sizes are available. Those who want to make the experience even more special can even ride the two friendly horses, Rezgő and Napsugár.

The Orthodox Synagogue
Makó’s only synagogue was built around 1895 and underwent a complete renovation in 2002, during which a memorial park was created in the courtyard, where the memorial plaques of the martyrs were placed in a dignified environment.
Within the framework of the 2020 development, a visitor center was created in the house belonging to the synagogue, which explains the history of the Jews of Makó. The country’s second largest synagogue is an important place of pilgrimage, where a religious ceremony is held every year on the anniversary of Mózes Vorhand’s death.

Sightseeing Mini Train
You can visit Makó’s attractions, notable buildings, and the Maros Bank in 40 minutes with the sightseeing train.
It is an exciting and interesting pastime for children and adults. During the trip, you can listen to a short presentation about the current location. The mini train starts from Csanád Vezér Square and ends here as well.

The Path of the True Pearls
The hiking trail called ‘The Path of the True Pearls’ has 11 exciting stops.
Makó’s sacred buildings, statues, and graveyards can be found using information boards. Among the stations there is a playground, a fountain, and a green labyrinth, so the Path of the True Pearls is an entertaining and interesting program for children as well.

Maros-Bank Hiking Trail
The hiking trail stretches between Makó and Apátfalva, which creation was organized by the Nature-Friendly Sports Association of Makó.
There are also tourist signs and informative boards on the track. The green signal starts at the railway crossing at the end of Liget Street, then leaves The Adventure Bank and continues in the forest, touching the swamp lakes and the Lúdvár islands. The information boards present the fauna and flora of the area. By scanning the QR codes on the signs, you can read more interesting things about the topic and watch videos about the animals on the signs. More experienced cyclists can also start the tour, but they may have to push the bike in some places due to the terrain conditions. If they end their trip in Apátfalva, they can also use the cycle path between Apátfalva and Makó.
